Moving, Fractions and Exploding Animal Biscuits!

Welcome to our end of term blog! What a half term it has been. Lots of learning has been taking place in Year 3.

3H continued their music lessons whilst 3S had the pleasure of having Mr Garraway visit and teach them all about how to use djembe drums – a noisy experience but lots of fun along the way.

In Science, we have been looking at forces and magnets and conducting experiments to find out which material a toy car would travel best on. Our maths has mostly focussed on recognising fractions and learning fractions of amounts and numbers. It has been tricky at times but the children have persevered.

Our English has focussed on using the book Operation Gadgetman by Malorie Blackman. A book all about a girl called Beans whose dad is kidnapped in the hope of using an invention to steal money. Beans’ dad ,who is an inventor, has some odd ideas, including some animal biscuits that cook themselves, but he hasn’t quite worked out the perfect recipe, so they always explode, although this is useful at the end of the story… but we won’t give away the ending.

We have also had the pleasure of some Year 6 children running a sports afternoon for us on the playground. Miss Lowdon helped to organise the afternoon and the sports leaders from Year 6 did an amazing job!

We hope you all have a wonderful break over Easter and look forward to seeing everyone back in the Summer term.
