Our English learning is focused on the book ‘Kaspar Prince of Cats’ by Michael Morpurgo. A story about a bell-boy at the Savoy hotel in London who becomes guardian to Kaspar – the cat of the Countess. After she passes away, he ends up looking after the cat for her and ends up on the Titanic with an American family.

In maths we have continued to look at fractions including adding and subtracting and comparing them.

In Science we have finished our unit looking at forces and magnets – getting paper clips to attract to the magnet without them touching was definitely a highlight. We are now beginning our unit on plants. Our history has moved onto learning about the Ancient Egyptians, their way of life and the impact they had on the modern world.

In music the children have been learning about the different families in the orchestra and have even had a chance to have a go playing a violin in class. In DT we have been looking at pneumatic systems and how they can make different parts move – we can’t wait to design and build our own toys incorporating what we have been learning about.

Of course we can’t forget to mention our trip to the theatre in Milton Keynes to see Aladdin – a huge thank you to those parents who gave up their time to support with this trip. The children we beautifully behaved throughout and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Iago – Jafar’s assistant – was a big favourite, as was the flying carpet during ‘A Whole New World’.

A busy term so far, but we’re only just getting started and can’t wait to share what else we have been up to later on this term.
