READING BUDDIES
This term, a selection of year 6 children have been chosen to read with Year 1’s.
Each year 6 was allocated a child, by Miss Jewell, to read with at the beginning of the term.
The year 6’s read with the younger children between 1:30-1:45. As we have more experience with reading, we try to help the children by sounding out words and asking questions about the book to see if they have a good understanding.
Our job from this reading session is to encourage the year 1’s to read more regularly. Reading a book is great for many reasons: boosting self-confidence, helping the young ones with communication and writing and keeping your mind of something that is affecting you could improve mental health.
We have really enjoyed reading with the year 1 children and hope we have encouraged them to read more often!
