MAKING CONNECTIONS FOR CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK
As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, the school council made connections with Hazeldene School and had an exciting visit to meet their school council.
The children from Hazeldene sent us some beautiful art work and our children in reception made them bunches of flowers.
Lexi and Evie from Year 6 wrote about our trip to Hazeldene.
A few weeks ago, the school council (and Mrs Hubbard) went to Hazeldene to talk about what people enjoy and things that could be improved.
To start things off, we sat at a table with some of the teachers at Hazeldene and we were offered chocolate biscuits and a drink. After that, we had a discussion where everyone shared ideas about how the schools can make changes and improvements. This really helped us because we now know what could be done to the Hills for it to be improved in the future.
Next, after the talk, we were given a tour of the school by one of the teachers and the children and suddenly realised how big the school was! Then, we thanked the staff for being helpful and for letting us look around the school before we walked back to the Hills Academy.
Overall, it was a lovely afternoon and we will definitely be taking some of the Hazeldene’s ideas on board!
