SPRING TERM MUSIC BLOG

As always, it’s been an exciting time in the Music Department this term.

It started with an amazing trip to the Birmingham Arena with our KS 2 Choir for the annual Young Voices concert. We took a record number of children with us this year with over 50 children joining us. A lovely day was had by all, sharing the joy of singing in the world’s largest choir.

Choir have continued to work hard, performing at the KS 1 Spring Assembly.

Choir have continued to work hard, performing at the KS 1 Spring Assembly.

All KS1 pupils sang beautifully at the two Spring Assembly performances, well done.

The woodwind pupils performed an informal concert to their parents at the end of term, and all played well, some for the first time in front of a live audience. I was very proud of them.

A number of our instrumental pupils attended an all day Orchestra Jamboree this term run by Bedford Music Services. They played pieces such as Ode to Joy and When the saints go marching in in a concert put on for the parents. Feedback from those who attended was very positive. It is a great opportunity for those learning, including beginners, to gain ensemble and performance experience, and enjoy a day of meeting others and playing together. Hopefully next time more children from The Hills will be encouraged to go.

We have seen some excellent results in the Bedford Festival in March... Well done to them all

All these categories were large, and the competition was tough. A big thank you to Mrs Waters who works so hard to help prepare these pupils for polished performances.

We offer a range of lessons from Year 3 upwards on piano, guitar, strings, brass, and woodwind. There are waiting lists for some instruments as so many pupils now learn. If your child is interested in learning, please let me know so I can give them a form to be completed.
