governor changes - May 2017
A few ins - a few outs - and a little bit of shaking about
In recent months, we've welcomed two new governors and a new clerk to the governing body. Naomi Rouse and Lucy Edwards have joined as Parent Governors and Rachel Welbourn is the new clerk. We are delighted to secure their services and they have already made a valuable contribution to the work of the Board and its sub-committees.
Unfortunately, after eight years of service, Sarah Holme has stepped down as a governor. Sarah dedicated a huge amount of time, effort and expertise to The Hills and was instrumental in ensuring constant improvements in standards of teaching and reporting. We are lucky that Sarah’s additional role as Chair of the Standards sub-committee has been taken by a very able successor in Jane Williams. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sarah for her incredible contribution to the school and send our best wishes to Jane as she helps to build on Sarah’s work.
Finally, as we approach the end of the summer term, three more governors are departing. Purva Joshi is leaving the governing board, as too is Zoe Thompson who is moving to another school locally. Whilst we are pleased for Zoe, she will be missed as a governor and a teacher. We are also thrilled for Alex Daye, who has secured a position to study for a masters degree in Essex, but equally sorry that this means that he is leaving the Bedford area and is stepping down as a governor after more than five years of outstanding service.
