BUNTING

In Year 2, we have been learning about designing purposeful products in our DT lessons. Our project this term, was to design a bunting for reception/nursery children with a purpose to help them count to 30.

In our class, we were all given a number to represent on our bunting. We then planned our design thinking carefully about our design criteria and what our bunting needs to have to be purposeful. After planning our bunting, we discussed what colours and materials we wanted to use. To make our bunting, we used felt. We had to carefully cut around our template of the bunting design using scissors. After that, we learnt how to do a running stitch!

We practiced on some number stencils and then we completed a stitch around the edge of our bunting. We also had to choose a felt to draw and cut around our number we were representing and had to stitch that onto our bunting felt with a running stitch. When we finished our designs, we evaluate with what we did well and what we might change next time.

Next, term we will be learning about food in design and technology!
